Time management is about mastering real time. There are only three ways to spend time: thoughts, conversations and actions. Regardless if you are an office worker or own your own business, these are the only ways in which you can spend time.

As a business furniture owner, I am frequently interrupted during the working day. That's fine. While you cannot eliminate interruptions, you do get a say on how much time you will spend on them and how much time you will spend on the thoughts, conversations and actions that will lead you to success. You are in control of your time and you can manage it if you choose to do so.

Businessmen, students, workers, and even housewives have relied on time management principles to achieve their daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals.

Entrepreneurs have emphasized adequate time management skills to reap the financial benefits of a productive business. Students hustle to maintain a balance between their studies, social lives, and earning a living.

Successful time management enables all of these people to organize their workspace or home without getting sidetracked. In fact, an organized workspace and effective time management strategies work in tandem towards reaching a specific goal. A disorderly workspace will drastically slow down any productivity meant to move fluently without disruption.

Good time managers can keep tabs on everything they do. They plan their day. Tip: Take the first 30 minutes of every day to plan your day. Don't start your day until you complete your time plan. The most important time of your day is the time you schedule to schedule time.

They can finish the most important activities ahead of time, and follow-up to complete the lesser important tasks that were put off temporarily. Writing down ignored activities on an Email calendar or day-planner is very important. Not only will this help you remember what was put off earlier in the day, it will keep you focused to finish key tasks faster.

Most time management specialists agree that the most efficient to-do list will not replace a highly organized day planner. Effective workplace time management skills creates an organized, productive person who can obtain more out of life in the long run. Remember this: it's impossible to get everything done! Also remember that 20 % of your thoughts, conversations and activities at work produce 80 percent of your results. Focus on the 20 %.
